SMRT Corporation Ltd, an investment holding company, provides multi-modal public transport services primarily in Singapore. It operates through Rail Operations, Bus Operations, Taxi Operations, Rental, Advertising, Engineering Services, and Other Services segments. The Rail Operations segment offers transport-related services. It operates North-South-East-West and circle lines of the mass rapid transit (MRT) system; and the Bukit Panjang light rapid transit (LRT) system. The Bus Operations segment provides public bus services. This segment offers approximately 101 bus services with a fleet of approximately 1,200 buses connecting the Western and North-Western areas with the rest of Singapore. The Taxi Operations segment offers taxi services; and rents taxis, as well as sells diesel to taxi hirers. It manages a fleet of approximately 3,300 taxis. The Rental segment leases commercial spaces and kiosks. This segment manages a portfolio of approximately 36,800 square meters. The Advertising segment leases advertising space at the MRT and LRT stations, as well as in trains, and on buses and taxis. The Engineering Services segment provides consultancy and project management services; and leases fiber optic cables. The Other Services segment offers charter hire services, and repair and maintenance services. The company was founded in 1987 and is based in Singapore. SMRT Corporation Ltd is a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited.
